Por unos la LLev...

This happened a while back...........discuss amongst yourselves.......

Personally I didn't like the part that said begging for ... if that supervisor knew what people (customers) give us he would have an idea. I for one never have "begged" for anything the people appreciate good service if you provide it. At Christmas time we would come home with money and gifts the four days of the week...but then again he'll never know cause he just got handed that job in his second year of employment but then again that's Laredo at it's best....HAHAHA..CORRUPT...they should have sent that memo to CITY HALL.

Let the Mudslinging Begin

Maybe you have already seen and read this flier left at the windshields of parked cars on slaughter field but if you haven't read it and make your own conclusions.......One thing that really got my attention is when did those two deaths happen?? Can someone point me out to those stories of "Death at Slaughter Park"?

ps.  Checked out the webpage but no posts...but he/she reads la sanbe and que fregados....hmmmm.....

Water Rights

Waste Age With all the talks about the millions of gallons of water being pumped out of the river I came across this article. It's a short one but it gets you thinking about what the bottling companies are willing to do for profit.

To Catch a Predator

I guess one can't even trust the people working at the library any more..Don't know how people can be sick enough to solicit a minor for sex. What are these kind of people thinking? SICK SICK SICK

Diversion

There is a term that I learned about two years ago before I got the bug to start my own business. The term is called "diversion rate" which means what percentage of waste, garbage etc.. is diverted from the landfill to a recycling facility. In the pictures posted before what do you think was the diversion rate in that month excuse me months because the busy season starts in mid November for the downtown business and ends in mid January. So what do you think was the diversion rate for those months?

80% garbage / 20%  recycable       60/40    50/50    40/60     or write your own see if  you get it right...

Downtown Complaining......??

Why are some people reluctant to change? I mean I've been trying to get my waste collection business off the ground talking to customers but they don't want to change. They say "it sounds good but is the city of laredo ok with you doing this". What does the city have to approve for me to get your business. Then I got an answer they told me that sure I can charge a lower price for the waste collection service but they were afraid that the city would raise there water rates and still charge them more. Told them that I've never heard of them doing that if they just decided to switch services I mean there are others that provide waste(garbage) pick up service and that the city of Laredo has no say in it. They complain about the rates going up and I'm offering a solution and they hesitate. I'm talking about the downtown businesses by the way. One thing I do know is that downtown business is not as strong as it was a few years back. I just hope know they will come knocking my door and ask for my service until then I just have to keeping knocking, talking, etc.. to more customers until I get one then it's just downhill from there.

Landfill at full Capacity

I almost forgot heard this week Gene Belmares talking to Pro8news about the landfill. There is also a rumor going around in the yard about Mr. Belmares being backed in his campaign for mayor by Mr. Southern Sanitation. Supposedly Mr. S. S. is a short time away or maybe months in opening a new landfill. Coincidence or maybe Belmares does care about the lifespan of the landfill. I think Mr. Belmares said that the process for getting land, permits, etc..etc... is a very long process don't you think if they knew that already they would've begun that before the landfill was almost at capacity??? Promoting and enforcing recycling would also help but no they're not into teaching or promoting recycling. Why do that now when a new landfill is about to open? They've always talked about privitazing the Solid Waste Department since I've been working for the city (13yrs) maybe this time it will come true......or I might be wrong. Time will tell.

*couldn't find the link at pro8news but he did come out speaking on the subject

Mal Hecho...

Back finally had to fight better half for the use of the computer...too many things going on that I don't know where to start. Well one of my co workers got a warning today for calling our newly appointed "CSR"
mal-hecho. I wonder how this csr (J. Gonzalez) does it that when he says jump our sanitation superintendent says how high. They told me he (J. G.) calls them worst names than that and no one says anything about it.
I guess it's the political pull he has rubbing arms with our Mayor R. S. We've heard from more than a handful of citizens that this guy mr. mal-hecho...ooops MR. GONZALEZ is campaigning for MR. Salinas every chance he gets when he goes out and deals with customers, citizens complaining about service. Another co worker says to let him be to not envy him it's not envy it's the irony that there he is telling everybody to stick together and fight for a better department and they give him a made up position to help them in their political races and he forgets about his coworkers. Well that's what u get for working for the city... Pardon my ranting it just irritates me when I hear what he says.... in his words "Miren todos los que tienen diploma or ged miren me los paso todos por debajo de los H****S sin nada de eso y fijense donde estoy". Oh well it's not what you know it's who you know when you work for the city of laredo...

New Trucks? I Don't Think So

And now an update of one of my posts..Well it looks like we won't be getting some new garbage trucks soon. The people upstairs decided to extend the bidding on the new trucks they were suppose to buy I think they realized they were going to pay too much for the trucks so they are going to wait for a better deal. In the mean time trucks keep breaking down and the "Jefes" keep demanding more. WHAT A JOKE......

Speakin of jokes.... this happened to me when I was starting out with the city. We were working the route of El Santo NiƱo and around 9 am we used to pass by this Ladys house and she used to come out and serve us a full breakfast. I'm talking about frijoles refritos, chicharrones and a big stack of freshly made flour tortillas, any ways we used to take our break there all three of us. Then this one time my partner La Camita was just standing there looking at us me and the driver prepare our tacos when I turned and said

SwEmployee:  "Y tu no vas a comer o que"
La Camita:     "Dame ese taco tu y haste otro"
SwEmployee:"QUE ni que fuera tu ..."
La Camita:      "Esque estoy bien cansado"

You should hear the things La Camita used to come up with. He used to ask people for a soda and when they gave him one and it was the HEB brand he used to say "NO tiene Classica porque esta no me gusta".
LMFAO like they say at work "No pagan mucho pero ah come se divierte uno" LOL

Scratch my Back and I'll

Been offline for a while trying to work on a business plan. QF thanks for your interest in helping out. Right now it's just scratch on paper (rough ideas) with no order what so ever. Also, been kind of PISSED OFF at how some people get "Special Treatment" at work. Just recently a fellow co-worker got promoted to "Field CSR" a postion just invented out of the blue. They didn't even list the position they just gave it to him. They say he got a Pull from Councilman Mike Garza and Mayor Salinas. They say he (scratched their backs) helped them out with their campaigns now he asked for the favor to be returned. Another co-worker wrote something to the LMT Opinion section about that employee you may have read it. It appeared on that section on 2/25/10 it was sent in by Mr. Raul Huerta commenting on Jose Gonzalez.

Rambling On

And  I almost forgot about the ban on plastic bags they (city council) should ban them or at least make the people put their house trash in them so they don't fly away. Sure do hate it when people put loose trash in the "Willie Bote" most of the time nothing flies away but catch a little wind and those plastic bags are the first to fly out that and the newspaper boy do I hate that it really irritates me, but what can I do. Just count to ten......
On to other things saw this posting on La Sanbe about the recycling center and illegal dumping .This illegal dumping has been going on since the center opened my Co worker said  "if they just put the trash in an orderly manner it wouldn't be much of a hassle but they throw everthing a lo p****o" that's when it gets messy and people start complaining. You can clean it up this day and tommorrow morning it will be the same. An ongoing cycle........

Pull Over

Not another one.....As I was working doing my daily round I saw PD had pulled over a dump truck well, as I drove by a gust of wind pick up a bunch of trash from the my trucks hopper and it just flew away. As I turned the corner the Officer pulled me over. What did I do Now??  It so happened that he pulled the dump truck over cause it was "littering" that's when I drove by and the driver said "What about him why don't you pull him over too?". He did, told me I was throwing trash all over the street. My answer was "Hey I can't do nothing about it people don't use bags in this area it's a taboo I think. Told him I was just doing my job that I can't control mother nature guess he got mad cause told me he needed to talk to my supervisor. All in all I'm just glad he didn't give me a ticket and just continued my route with a verbal warning from the officer, cause my supervisor understands that when it's windy and people don't use trash bags there's a lot of littering going on. So please people use bags when throwing trash in the "Willie Bote" it sure helps.

Free Shredding

On other new at least to me. You know how they say u learn something new every day well on Thursday 1/28/10 I got a surprise when I learned the City Solid Waste Dept. was shredding and recycling important tax documents for several CPA's. Needless to say as I stumbled across this info I took a look at what a fellow partner was doing and he told me shredding papers the recycling crew picked up I picked one up and it was a Income tax paper for a forwarding agency, and there were more of different clients. I understand they want to go green and recycle but come on don't u earn enough money to pay for a shredding company. Or maybe he goes by the saying "Why pay for it when the city can do it for free" I wonder what his clients would say if they knew someone else other than their CPA was looking at their finacial situation??? HMMMM......

What-A-Bully

Oh man! what a ride I've seeing those signs that the Shell owner puts man.... I mean I'm neither for or against what he is doing but I've got to give him credit for speaking his mind publicly. Wish I could do that without being an outcast at work. He His employees were witnesses to a bullying brother of Andy Reyes and I know for a fact because one of my relatives was working when the guy stormed in demanding to speak with the owner regarding the postings on the sign outside, that the owner would not see the end of it when they win the race for judge. Man come on You know there was is going to be mud slinging in a political race especially when election time nears. Maybe he doesn't know what his brother was doing but at least try to explain to them what there is going to be in a political race. Like they say in that comercial for Tecate "Pa los que no se Rajan" one day I'll be like this guy not worrying if I have job or not well that will be when I'm my own boss I hope that day is right around the corner.......

Discount Us?? I'll take it full price...

O Boy do we have a piece of work over there at city hall I just found out that last year when our department bought two garbage trucks the purchasing department was told by the dealer that if they were going to purchase more truck just to make a commitment to lock the price they got on those ones. Well you know how they are why save some money when we are on a budget.we have the money to spend. They didn't do that, now the price went up I think Mr. G. told me about $15,000 but  any ways here is a pic of they new trucks they're looking at now..

I personally don't like this one it's a Heil, like the McNeilus better. The Heil breaks down a lot ..

Rediscover my A......

It's been a while I haven't posted anything. I'll try by putting up this Slogan, instead of the City Council hiring firms to do studies of this and that or firms to Rediscover our Flavor they should try locally maybe going by the route of this person that came up with this nice piece of saying.....

I bet this one didn't have a cost of 20 or 40KK  but then again it's our city council and they'll just spend to have a second opinion you know they can't decide by themselves...

2. Mr. PG

3. RW     4. LG          5. Mamey E.      ....and...

6. El AB aka War Vet. (don't know which war he went to but he says he's a vet) this one is a real charcacter
he knows as much about the Solid Waste Department as I do of being a army soldier (which is not a damn thing) so I keep askin myself why did they make him a  Sanitation Superintendent??? ohh well

There are many more but I'll list them as I go along...

Pitch in

well today's another day gone by.....they've been telling us since monday of last week to pitch in for a "carne asada" to break in the new bbq pit they're making at work. I told them that I don't participate in those functions because I feel like they're doing u a favor by giving u a lunch plate and it's like you're kissing ass just by being there believe me there at that dept. some people can kiss ass like no other i've seen them. I don't go when it's free and u want me to chip in PLEASE... They are doing this to boost employee moral come on You want to boost my moral give me a raise. If not,  u can stick that bbq pit, carne asada, and all the two weeks it took that guy to make it and just put it where the sun don't shine.....Maybe that's why the WINO can't stand me...LOL

Shorter And Sweeter: The Funniest American Idol Original Song Audition Ever

Random Thoughts

Think I have been doing this the wrong way. Have to make this about me not about my work. Well, think I can write about what has happened to me, how they are, or just some stories of what people do at work. Yeah I think that's it. I'll think of some things that have happened to me over the course of 12 years working for the Solid Waste Department (Public Works Sanitation when I started) which some are pretty interesting. The way some people are....ohh well.....

Raise What Raise??

I was hearing Jay St.john the other morning he was going on and on that the city employees got a raise. I would love to know which ones because I didn't get one. We really got screwed on that deal let me explain how:

First we used to get a raise depending on your annual employee evaluation. You used to get a 1 to 4% raised depending on your score. Well they changed that because too many employees were complaining that they got a low percentage raise. Their solution: No more employee annual raises they will only get a cost of living increase. And the cost of living increase will be raised from 2% to I think they said 4 or 5% I don't recall correctly so it would be fair. Fair for who I really got screwed.

For one I always got a 4% annual raise when my evaluation came around. On October all of us would get the mandatory cost of living increase which was 2% across the board. Adding the percentages it would come out a 6% raise for me annually. A raise they took away.

Come October they sent us a flier with our paychecks stating that due to budget restraints there won't be a cost of living increase. Screwed for a second time. NO cost of living raise in October, NO annual employee raise 1, 2, 3 or 4 %  Nothing..Nada.. Those employees complaining should have just kept their mouths shut and at least they would have had their 1 or 2 % raise..

And if some city employees got a raise I would love to know which ones..

Nature's Calling

Did they set the standard??  Or is it in our nature to do so??

Shootout

If you didn't see the game between the Cardinals and the Packers boy did you miss a good shootout between Kurt Warner and Aaron Rodgers.  Kurt  played a hell of a game. It was close at the end the Packers did stop a blowout though gotta give them credit for that.  Let's see how the Cards do against the Saints. It doesn't matter though I think my team will win it all!!!!

The Endless Possibilities....

New To This

A little behind the times but better late than never. With this I will be trying to recount my daily experiences as I work the streets of Laredo. Man the things you see while picking up the trash on these streets. About the title (Dale Bola) it's sort of slang we use at work it means just to throw it away. Hope you all like it.
Man did we have a lot of work on this day...thought the trash would never end.
